这部协奏曲是罗德里戈1968年创作的。灵感来自于文艺复兴时期一位法兰克-弗莱芒作曲家Jacques Arcadelt 所写的一首牧歌《O felici occhi miei》。该协奏曲原本题献给法国著名的吉他二重奏Presti - Lagoya Duo，但由于Ida Presti 因癌症去世，未能首演。后来Pepe Romero 和他的兄弟 Angel Romero 于1970年在美国洛杉矶首演了这部协奏曲。
