Price goes up is the trend.

It is called currency inflation. According to the theory and history from economics, the trend of the price gradually goes up in a healthy circle as the currency normally devalues with the growth of the economy. Higher growth normally boosts higher inflation which results in higher consumer price.

That is also one of the reasons Banks offer customers interest rate when depositing the money into the bank. The interest rate is just cost-recovery rate which will be generally below the inflation rate.
